Impact maturity assessment

A short 10 minute questionnaire to help you and your product/service team assess your impact maturity. Score your team’s activities on the following on a scale of 1-10 (1= not at all, 10= very much). Add the scores up at the end to get an indication of your current maturity.

Overall Impact Intent

To what extent does your team;

Measurement Intent

Have a clear view of the indicators and metrics you are using to track the impact of your product on users, customers, wider society? (1-10)

Collect, analyse, review and report on the data showing the impact of your product or service on users, customers, wider society, the environment. (collection might be through e.g qualitative research, surveys, or more in depth outcomes and impact assessments)? (1-10)

Have methods of measuring and/or managing the potential unintended consequences or harms of your product/service on users, customers, wider society? (1-10)

Once you've completed the questionnaire, add up your scores. You should have a minimum of 11 and a maximum of 110.

You may already have the foundations in place, and you’re now in the process of establishing more rigorous methods and processes for tracking towards your impact aims. Focus on reviewing any strategic documentation you have, creating an impact map and impact measurement plan if you don’t already have one, and getting the processes in place for measuring and reviewing your impact in a more structured and consistent way.

You may already have established structured and consistent methods for defining and measuring your outcomes and impact. Keep going! Continue reviewing what you have, challenging any assumptions you’re holding, and run an impact mapping exercise to sense-check your current thinking.
